Why I Blog

So why the heck am I doing this?

When I started out, I used to half hope that my heartfelt but angst-filled ramblings would net me a worldwide following of fans who really get me, man.

Now I know that no one reads this but me (and sometimes not even then!). So why bother?

All I can say is, it's cool to look back on some of the things I've written over the years. It's hard to believe, but I've been blogging off and on (mostly off) since 2003.

I've written some stuff that I think is pretty good, some stuff that I don't want to forget. Re-reading it all brings back memories and reminds me of the person I used to be and shows me, in many ways, how I haven't changed at all.

Plus blogging is less cumbersome than lugging all those diaries around (and I have my share of those, too).

Self-centered navel gazing -- what better reason is there to keep a blog?
