It's 2010 and we just installed an aerial antenna.
What started off as kind of a lark on my part (the DH has been talking about it for years), looks like it may now come to fruition. Yep, we may be getting rid of cable.
Sometime late last year, I started thinking that we could save about $100 a month if we dropped cable (in reality, it's more like $80). Most of my must-see shows are on the networks, and nowadays most (if not all) non-network shows worth watching are available online (I think. I really have to do some more research). Now that we have over-the-air HD programming, it seems like cable is a luxury I really can live without.
I mentioned this to the DH, and, a few weeks later, he has really run with it. He installed the above antenna yesterday, and now he's pricing computers (I told him I'd only agree to this if we could get hulu/itunes on the big tv; he's decided that, instead of running cabling to the living room from the computer room, we'll have a computer dedicated to the tv in the living room).
So, we'll see. I kind of want to give it a test run for a year or so. Basically, I want to be able to get cable back if I want to.
Will no cable equal less tv watching in general (not a bad thing)? Who knows? I guess I will, sooner than I think...
Oh, yeah. Happy Valentine's Day
