I have a problem with follow through.
I've tried to successfully complete NaBloPoMo at *least* three times, and haven't been able to do it once. I really thought this month might be the month, but last night I blew it.
Sigh.
I always start out strong, with lots of good intentions and hope, and then I just peter out. I lose motivation; it all starts to seem a little bit pointless.
I'd like to say that this only applies to blogging (and it does, to a certain extent. No one is reading this blog and no one really cares if I complete NaBlo but me. Wait. Does that make it *worse* that I can't finish it?), but it doesn't. If I don't have a deadline or someone depending on me for something, it makes it less likely that I'll actually do it. Isn't that sad?
But it explains a lot, doesn't it? Why I can't meet (or heck, even make) any goals? What it really boils down to is that I don't care enough about myself to keep the promises I make to myself.
So, what do I do about that?

Still, I Subscribe
I am a magazine junkie. I admit it.
A couple of days ago, I received two magazines in my mailbox: Real Simple and Parents. A few days before that, the Oprah magazine arrived. A few days before *that,* Fresh Home showed up. I also subscribe to Whole Living. Apparently I also subscribe to something called Natural Solutions. It came in the mail the other day, but I have absolutely no memory of ordering it.
And still I want more. I'd like to resubscribe to Parenting, and maybe Health. I recently subscribed to Better Homes and Gardens, but I haven't started receiving it yet.
If an envelope comes in the mail that asks me to be a charter subscriber to a brand-new magazine, odds are I will.
It's an addiction, I know. It leads to an ever-growing shelf of magazines. Every few months, I'll go through my old magazines page by page and rip out any articles of interest, for later. I have accordion folders full of articles of interest.
But I just love them. I love the big glossy pages, the gorgeous photographs, the promise of achieving perfection, if not this month, then next month, definitely. It's all achievable: the perfect meal, the perfect room, the perfect outfit, the perfect outlook, the perfect life -- and in only 5 easy steps.
Sigh.
My apologies for the BS post yesterday. I was literally crawling into bed at 11:30 (I really need to start getting to bed earlier), when I realized I hadn't posted yet. Oh, the things I do for NaBloPoMo.

Right This Moment
The DH is watching the Texas-OU game, aka The Red River Shootout (thanks to the god of Wikipedia, I just learned that it's no longer officially called the Red River Shootout anymore. Now it's the "Red River Rivalry." Eh).
LZ is playing Boggle Jr. and I'm fufilling the letter of NaBloPoMo and logging in today's blog posting.
My MiL will (probably) be over later on and I'll make enchiladas.
A pretty lazy day, all in all. In fact, I've spent most of the morning lusting after gorgeous clothes that I'll either a. never be able to afford or b. never be able to fit in or c. am probably too old to wear in public.
Oh, well. My love for EGL is another blog post in and of itself

Once More, With Feeling
Well, I'm back -- again. I'm going to try NaBloPoMo -- again.
I suppose a two-line post isn't a very auspicious beginning, but, it's the thought that counts, right?
Anyway, I'm about to watch "Prince of Persia," so I don't have time for any frivolities.

Another One Bites the Dust
I came here all pumped (well, maybe not pumped, but ready) to write a blog post about how I finally watched this week's episode of "Lost" and how I'm not really holding out much hope for a satisfying conclusion and how I used to be a die-hard Lostie and now I'm just along for the ride.
But then I got here and realized I didn't post at all yesterday. I totally thought I had! Dang! I hate it when that happens!
Now I'm all demoralized (well, not really. But kind of). I just cannot NaBloPoMo to save my life. Oh, well. I'll treat you to my musings on Lost later. At least it'll save me the trouble of coming up with a blog topic.

Son of the Glutton
Boy, that was a disaster! Am I right?
Well, we'll just pretend last month's little episode never even happened and start fresh this month. NaBloPoMo in May, for the win!
I'm inspired because I've found 750words, a site where you write 750 stream-of-consciousness type words every day. I'm finding that I really enjoy doing it. Of course, I've only been doing it for two days, but... It's going to be the start of something big, I can feel it! (Ha!)
I enjoy writing, I really do. I just don't do it nearly enough.
Why is that? Why don't I do more things that I enjoy? That's a month worth of writing right there.

The Glutton is Back
So, yes, I'm going to try it again. I'm going to try NaBloPoMo one. more. time.

Not Quite
I had planned to write a detailed post about how sorry I was for not posting yesterday, but how I am not going to beat myself up over it or consider this NaBloPoMo to be a bust because I had a *very* busy day yesterday, which is practically a first around here.
I also had pictures to share.
But at this moment, all I can think of is how much I really, really want something sweet, like a cookie or some pastries or something.
The spirit really *is* willing...

The Point
Even though I haven't made a "real" blog post in several days, I can't bring myself to just skip a day.
The point of NaBloPoMo, at least as I see it, is to make you write more quality blog posts, not just more blog posts in general.
But there's probably some value in just writing at all, even crappy filler posts like this one.
The more I write, the greater chance there is that I'll write something memorable (I hope). At the very least, it encourages me to think about writing. And thinking about writing encourages me to actually do some writing. A small step, maybe, but a step nonetheless.
And, believe me, it's not like I got anything else going on.

Technical Difficulties
Yesterday's NaBloPoMo post unfortunately got swallowed by the ether, so I'm not going to consider this month a total waste yet.
I took a really adorable pic of LZ with my cell phone and then spent all day trying to do the mobile-blogging thing and get it to post to this blog. I still haven't figured it out.
Oh, well.

Once More Into the Bleach
Disclaimer: the following blog post has absolutely nothing to do with Blondie, other than the fact that I have always liked that title. And Blondie.
Well, I've decided to try it again. Yep, that's right, I'm going to try to complete NaBloPoMo one more time.
So I guess this makes post number one.
Who says I never give up?

16
Well, there goes another NaBloPoMo. I made it for 16 days straight until I blew it yesterday.
I was actually in bed last night, around 1 a.m., when it dawned on me that I hadn't posted on Saturday. Though I didn't actually bolt upright, I did mentally.
Oh, well. There's always next month...

Explanation
In the interest of full disclosure for NaBloPoMo, I will go ahead and state the reason I always end up posting such short posts.
Instead of writing early in the day, when LZ is asleep or when I have a bit of time here and there, I wait until the evening time when I'm tired and/or want to spend a little time with the DH.
So that's why.

Technically
I guess, for the literal purposes of NaBloPoMo, this post is officially late.
However, since I still haven't gone to bed yet, I'm going to consider this post as Friday's and not Saturday's.

So This is the New Year
I really have a lot going on. I need to make one (or two) massive what-the-heck-I've-been-doing posts, but now I don't feel like it. Suffice it to say that poor planning leading to crushing disappointment is not conducive to long blog posts. At least not immediately after the fact. :p
I've decided to try NaBloPoMo yet again. I figure this time it'll be easy because I have so much stuff going on. My first (real) post can be all about aforementioned poor planning and crushing disappointment.
In all actuality, I'll probably start off strong and peter out, like I normally do. Or not. Maybe this time is the time. Nah, it probably isn't.

Going Throuh the Motions
Yeah, can you tell I'm just writing these past few posts to satisfy the requirements of NaBloPoMo?

Heere We Go (Again)
Welcome to the first blog post of July's NaBloPoMo. I would put a groovy little badge in my sidebar, but I can't seem to find one on the site. Oh, well. I have the worst time figuring out those things anyway.
So... what's been going on with me? Well, a lot. Like the fact that we *still* don't have a house yet.
Oh, we *found* a house. We even put a bid on one that got accepted. In fact, I even wrote about it. Back in March. Yes, March.
The house that I thought we had the best chance of getting is the one we got.
Sort of.
It took about a month to hear back from the bank (it was a short sale). I was cool with that. I'd heard short sales take a long time, so I wasn't worried. When we finally did hear back, it was good news. We got accepted. The bank/seller agreed to our terms so all we had to do was get the appraisal and inspections done and we'd be home free. Closing date: May 25.
But wait, you might be saying. May 25 is (was) a Sunday, isn't it? Why yes, yes it is (was). That should've clued me in right there. All our inspections were done, paperwork was in order, we were ready to pull the trigger. And, yet... May 25th came and went.
The problem? Bank number two. Yes, there were *two* banks we needed approval from. We, of course, knew about this back in April, but we were assured by our Realtor (who supposedly heard it from the seller's agent) that the second bank's approval was a mere formality, no reason not to get the ball rolling.
Now, here we are, a month *after* our closing date, and still no closer to buying the house, forget about moving in.
I am pretty slow to anger, but I get angrier and angrier thinking about this. I feel like our Realtor shafted us by encouraging us to start the process, and fork over cash, all the while knowing that bank number two could still queer the deal. Why?
Well, I'm reluctant to say "to hell with this" since we'll lose any and all money we've spent so far (except for the earnest money, of course). Now she'll still get her commission (eventually) without having to do any more work for us until closing (and believe me, she's not doing much). We were pretty high maintenance until we found this house.
I am this close to saying screw it, backing out of the deal and signing a new lease. I was never all that keen on buying a house anyway (too much permanence for a place that I *really* don't want to stay long in). I feel like we gave it a good try, but, it's just not meant to be.
To make matters worse, our interest rate lock expired at the end of June. We had to fork over another chunk of change (added to closing costs) in order to extend the rate for 30 more days.
If I'm still home-less by the end of July, I really *am* going to say f--- it, sign a new lease and remain blissfully home free.

Try, Try Again
I must be a glutton for punishment (I think I've said those words before), but I'm going to try this NaBloPoMo thing again.
There are a lot of things going on in my life right now (a lot. not all of it good), and I feel like I should chronicle these things. Plus, since I've discovered facebook I spend a lot more time on the computer so, I might as well.
Here goes nothin'

Light Work
I don't know if I'm really cut out for this blogging-every-day thing. I've totally run out of steam.
I'll get it back eventually, but if it wasn't for NaBloPoMo, I probably wouldn't have posted at all for the past few days.
Oh, we put a bid in on yet another house. We'll see how it turns out...
